Selank vs Tuftsin.
Read the complete sequence.

One peptide family, two distinct identities. Follow the sequence, the research comparison and the specification fields behind a Selank enquiry.

Selank is a seven-residue synthetic analogue of the four-residue peptide Tuftsin. Their sequences share a starting segment, but Selank includes an additional Pro-Gly-Pro segment. The two names therefore identify different peptides, rather than alternative spellings of one compound.

Aurelis lists Selank 10 mg per unit. Tuftsin appears here as a literature comparator; this article does not establish a separate Tuftsin product or change the Selank catalogue specification.

What is the sequence difference?

The 2016 Selank paper describes the Tuftsin sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg and its Pro-Gly-Pro extension in Selank. These are amino-acid sequences: the order of the building blocks in each peptide. The short forms below express the same order using one letter for each residue. Read the original paper, introduction and material identity.

A complete material description also needs its chemical form. A sequence in a paper does not establish the terminal groups, counterion, content result or identity of an offered batch. Request those details for the selected material; keep the literature description and batch documents connected without treating them as the same record.

Where does the Tuftsin name come from?

Najjar and Nishioka introduced the name in their 1970 Nature letter. Their laboratory work linked a peptide fragment from a gamma-globulin fraction with stimulation of phagocytosis, the process by which certain cells engulf material. The name refers to Tufts University. Read the original Nature abstract.

That discovery explains Tuftsin's place in immune-cell research. A parent peptide's history is useful context for reading about its analogues, while each analogue still needs its own identified material and experiment.

Have Selank and Tuftsin been compared directly?

Yes. Semenova and colleagues' 2009 study compared their effects on serotonin metabolism in Wistar rats, including animals pretreated with a serotonin-synthesis inhibitor. The investigators examined brain regions separately and reported different responses for the two peptides. In the pretreated animals, the reported Selank response in brainstem serotonin metabolism differed from the Tuftsin response at the corresponding observation. See the comparative study and its English abstract (PDF).

The result concerns chemistry in sampled rat-brain regions under the study's conditions. It is useful evidence that related sequences can produce different experimental observations. It is not a general ranking of the peptides or a direct measurement of everyday calm in people.

Why do Selank papers also mention shorter fragments?

A 2014 Molecular Immunology paper studied Selank alongside Gly-Pro, a shorter fragment, in mouse spleen. The authors measured changes in the expression of four inflammation-related genes. They reported time-dependent patterns and similarities between some of the Selank and Gly-Pro responses. Read the original publisher abstract and study summary.

Gly-Pro, Tuftsin and Selank are three different material names. Check the experimental group before attaching a result to the full seven-residue peptide. This is also a different comparison from the 2009 rat study: another model, another comparator and another measurement.

How should you record a research comparison?

Use a short reading record rather than saving a benefit headline alone. The following fields make it easier to return to the exact experiment later.

A simple research-reading record
FieldWhat to retain
MaterialThe complete name, sequence and preparation described
ComparatorTuftsin, a shorter fragment or another stated comparison group
SettingThe species, tissue or cell system actually examined
OutcomeThe measured chemistry, gene activity or other defined endpoint
ReferenceThe original paper and the relevant result or figure

What does Selank 10 mg specify?

The Aurelis Selank 10 mg entry states listed content per unit. It does not provide a liquid volume, concentration or amount delivered by a particular presentation. A matching number on a different peptide would not establish equivalent composition or activity.

Keep the compound name and content basis together when requesting records. Ask for the offered batch's complete identity, chemical form and corresponding analytical documentation. The content versus concentration guide explains the quantity fields; the quality-documentation page sets out the document questions.

Prepare a precise Selank enquiry

State Selank 10 mg, your required quantity, preferred presentation and destination. Aurelis presents both vials and pen-style kits; confirm the actual configuration for the selected entry. A nasal-format enquiry needs its own finished formulation and presentation specification. The standalone content listing does not fill in those fields.

Include a paper reference if you are matching a research material, and identify any chemical-form requirement explicitly. For a proposed blend, request the complete component identities and amounts through the blend guide; a family relationship is not a blend formula.
